About Me
Hi, I’m Takia, a Licensed Social Worker with a Master’s degree in Social Work from Dominican University and a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Northeastern Illinois University. I’m passionate about helping individuals reclaim their sense of self and live authentically in a way that sustains them on their mental health journey.
Outside of my clinical work, I take pride in my service as a retired veteran. I deeply value quality time with my family and moments of quiet reflection. I bring this same balance of strength, resilience, and mindfulness into my work with clients.
What problem do you strive to overcome?
Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. They may be carrying the weight of trauma, struggling with difficult relationship patterns, or balancing the unique pressures of everyday life.
My goal is to create a calming, nonjudgmental space filled with empathy, affirmation, and practical tools. I strive to help clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to take the next step toward healing and wholeness.
My Approach
I combine Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing to create a supportive, personalized process that empowers clients to lead the way in their own healing journey.
Over the last five years, I’ve supported individuals navigating:
Depression and Anxiety
Trauma and PTSD
Psychotic Disorders
Substance Use Challenges (including court-ordered treatment)
I also hold a special interest in working with veterans, honoring their unique experiences and needs with respect and compassion.
What to Expect from Therapy
Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience. By blending creativity with evidence-based practices, I help clients explore new ways of understanding themselves and moving toward lasting change.
As a therapist who practices from a strengths-based perspective, I often provide therapeutic resources you can use independently. Whether that’s a reflective quote, a journaling prompt, or another practical tool to build on the work we’ve done together.
